Dennis Moser

Dennis Moser, aka "usr/sbin", aka "AldoManutio Abruzzo" ... is an experimental soundscape/ambient musician and visual artist; trained as a classical musician #guitar, trombone, recorder, Renaissance lute#. Currently, he works with various permutations of guitars, synthesizer, and computer-based composition tools, as well as other audio/aural odds and ends. As an undergraduate, he performed Renaissance and Baroque music with both the Madrigal Singers and the Collegium Musicum of the University of Texas, Austin, as lutenist and guitarist. With his move into the electronic music realm in the late 1990's, he began performing live ambient music at several venues in the North Texas area. These days, he works in his studio on the high plains, between the Vedauwoo and Snowy Range mountains of Wyoming.

He presently has multiple CDs in release and participates regularly in numerous collaborative projects with the Ambient Collective. Look for these works under his "usr/sbin" project name. His entry into performing in virtual realities, particularly Second Life, began with a performance in late 2006 and he quickly established himself as a unique performer, even for a place as unique as Second Life. He was voted "Best of Second Life: Live Performer" in 2007.

While performing at venues such as the Mediaculture stages, the famed Oyster Bay Cafe and the Future Perfect stage of Bliss Gardens, he also began working with visual artists, such as Juria Yoshikawa, Douglas Story, Desdemona Enfield and Scope Cleaver. His soundscapes have been enjoyed at SIMs such as the Princeton University SIM, New Media Corporation's events, and various Linden Lab celebrations.

2008 saw a year-long event of concerts celebrating the Full Moon at Bibi Book's incomparable Sky Castle venue, accompanied by CD releases of some of the twelve performances. And, of course, there were numerous other performances at new venues, not the least of which were the Garden of NPIRL Delights, Gibson Island, the Music Academy, and the lovely Sea Turtle stage at Music Island of the Cedar Island community.

He feels that the virtual environment is not to be overlooked, as it is an excellent of reaching new audiences on a global scale and continues to actively perform there, as well as the analog "real" world.
