Alonzo Villarreal

Acoustic and Electric Drums and Percussion, Keyboards, Guitar and Bass--- At the age of 8 he started playing piano and by age 12 he had begun playing guitar, bass and his lifelong passion, drums. Playing in many different bands through his teen years, he discovered jazz, fusion, and progressive rock music at about the age of 17 and that began a turning point in his playing. A venerate fan of jazz violin legend Jean Luc Ponty, he continued to hone his style of playing immersed in the music of Jean Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, Billy Cobham and many other jazz/fusion greats. After attending college he continued to play in a variety of bands and studied all styles of music. A brief stint in the 90's with Chicago punk rock legend Skafish led to the formation of The Situation, a 3 piece progressive pop band with guitar great Dave Hertaus and bassist extraordinaire Brian Smolar (formerly of 'Joker' fame) that recorded and released a CD titled 'Resolve' and several other unreleased tracks. After returning to college in 2001 he developed an interest in electronic ambient music and began writing and recording new music, as well as continuing his interest in all genres.
